Monnaber Vell nestles in a cozy valley at the foot of the Tramuntana Mountains. It borders on the east with the fertile plains known as "Es Pla", with Sa Pobla as its agricultural center and the flourishing grape-growing trade in the environs of Petra, and barely 18 km to the north are the bays of Alcudia and Pollensa with their sandy beaches and coves' crystal-clear waters; a little farther north is Formentor Beach and its well-known lookout point, which offers commanding vistas of the area.

A short stroll away is the Chapel of San Miquel, which was constructed after the Catalan conquest in 1229, and the Campanet Caves, which were discovered in 1945.

Birdwatching is possible in the mountains or in the nearby Albufera Park in the North of the Island. In the town of Campanet there is the The Black Vulture Conservation Foundation (BVCF) , which is a non-profit organization that has been working to preserve the Black Vulture and other birds of prey throughout Europe. Visiting is possible after appointment.
